School Profile - History The school was built in 1978 under the patronage of the ruler of Sharjah, H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohd. Al Qassimi. The town was growing and there was a need to provide wholesome education at affordable prices. No frills, no jargon, just honest education. The Philosophy The school is committed to producing a universal human being, a person with not just robotic information at his command, but the wisdom to use it for the greater good. A world citizen; erudite, able to accept diverse cultures and values while holding on to his own. A humane person; an eco friendly citizen of the world. These are big targets, but unless you reach for the stars, you will not touch the moon! Summary: What is education? Is it a meal ticket? Is it a CD full of information? Is it the key to wisdom? Is it a bridge to universal understanding? We think it is all this and more. It helps us to understand ourselves and our potential. It helps us to take the hard times philosophically, and the good times level headedly. We believe that children need a free and relaxed atmosphere to grow in, where they are trusted and the teachers are approachable. The Staff Every teacher is well qualified and experienced in his/her field. But what is more, there is enthusiasm; innovation and ability to try out new ideas; a passion to infuse curiosity in students. Teachers are always approachable and friendly, making learning a pleasurable activity. After all “ education is not a putting in, but a drawing out”. The teacher student ratio in school is 1:20. There are in-house training programmes, lectures and visits from overseas experts to keep the staff abreast with new ideas in education. Assessment The school believes in continuous assessment of understanding for the purpose of improvement. With this in mind, students are given credit for whatever work they do in class for each of the first two months of each term. This is supplemented by quizzes and surprise tests. Care is taken not to repeat the questions so that students study the textbook and do not learn from the copybooks. An exam is held at midterm and at the end of the year. At the end of the academic year the sum total of the three term exams and 6 monthly assessments are put together as the final credit. A child’s performance is shown against the best performance in that class for each subject, but no rank is given.
